Practice Test Center

Practice Tests for Sailing Licenses at Skyline Sailing

Skyline sailing is recognized by FOD Mobility as a practical test center (recognition number CSC023) for conducting practical tests (sometimes called practical exam) within the framework of the General Sailing License (M+S), Yachtman (M+S) and Radar.

More information regarding the composition of the program and the evaluation criteria can also be found on the website of the federal government, FPS mobility & the links at the bottom of the page.

Practice test Yachtman from Nieuwpoort (BE)

Skyline sailing organizes the practical test Yachtman as a course of “continuous evaluation” or as a course of “practical test” on its own ship i dolci. (HR 43).

Since you -among other things- will be judged on your ability as a skipper, we advise you to schedule the ‘practical test’ course only once you have gained some experience as a skipper yourself.

If your practical experience regarding navigation, regulations, safety,… is no longer so up to date, then we advise you to opt for the course “permanent evaluation” This can take the form of a week-end formula or, if a more thorough refresher is desired, through a customized program spread over several days.

Track 'practice test'

If you register for the ‘practical test’ course, you can compare this with a “practical exam” where sufficient time is provided to get acquainted with the boat, but you start carrying out assignments independently. So there is no room for asking “refresher questions”.

The practical test takes +/- 11 hours (minimum 10h) in the case of 1 participant, +/- 21 hours in the case of 2 participants (minimum 20h) with each one having to sail at least 3 hours between sunset and sunrise.

In this case, there is no overnight stay on board and you provide your own packed lunch and a snack for during the night trip.
For dinner on board, we agree on this in advance.

Pathway 'continuous evaluation'

If you register for the “permanent evaluation” course, you will not only have the opportunity to get to know the ship, but also to refresh -via practice- a (limited) number of components before performing it independently as a “test”.

We offer this in weekend-formula where you embark on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. and disembark on Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. You will then be “permanently evaluated” and there is still (limited) room to ask questions regarding the correct execution of the assignments.

Meals will be mutually agreed upon in advance.
It is possible to register with more than one person, but with a maximum of 3 persons in total on board, including 2 examinees.
