We will sail from Nieuwpoort, via the Solent (UK) to the French Normandy coast Cherbourg or St Malo depending the weather conditions. Both final destinations have good public transport links to Belgium.
This trip lends itself perfectly to teaching the principles of safe navigation. After all, not only are we in a highly tidal area, but when crossing the canal, we will also have to deal with longer trips (possibly at night) and take into account the busier shipping traffic.
Beautiful places like Cowes, Beaulieu, Cherbourg, Alderney, Guernsey,… may be on the schedule, depending on weather and tide.
The tour will be divided into 2 stages :
- Nieuwpoort – Cherbourg : 14/07 – 21/07
- Cherbourg – TBD : 23/07 – 30/07
The participation fee for these multi-day tours is €170 per person per day.
There are also costs shared by the participants, such as harbour fees, diesel, drinks and food. The skipper does not participate in the costs of diesel and harbour fees outside the home port.
For meals on board, shopping is done together. We enjoy cooking and eating together, or, by arrangement, we are tempted by a local eatery.
